So, we've put together an internet dating guide to help entice you to shake things up, put yourself out there and go for what you want when it comes to love.

Take the first step.
Sometimes taking the first step can be the hardest thing and the best thing you can do. Whether you're lazy or scared or lack the time it takes to find women or find men to date, a simple move in the right direction can be all it takes to get you going. The simple act of setting up one or more free personal ads at internet personals or relationship sites; using the free dating option at your favorite dating personals site to go window shopping for local singles once a week; or telling friends that you're ready to put yourself out there and find a date can be a great catalyst. Doing something, anything, will give you a sense of accomplishment which in and of itself can motivate you to keep taking more steps in the right direction. And even a simple step can yield results. But you won't know until you try. And you won't be able to go further until you take that first step. If it seems frightening to put yourself out there, taking one step one day at a time can make dating feel manageable. Remember, courage means walking through your fear, and walking begins with the first step.

Write down what you want to do and make a time commitment.
This is simple and can yield great results. Take out a pen and paper and write down what you want. Marriage? A boyfriend or girl friend? A life partner? Write them down -- all the things you want. Next write down three things you can do towards attaining each. Like: "Buy a new dress or pair of slacks that make me feel great so I feel good when I'm going out on a date." Or: "Refresh my internet dating profiles with new photos." Or: "Go on that singles cruise I've been talking about for months." Or: "Take that class I’ve been dreaming of so that I can move on changing careers and being more self fulfilled... and maybe meet people who share similar interests." Or: "Make more time each week to spend with friends and do things that bring me joy." Now, next to each item, write down a time limit. In other words, write down the date (and be specific) by which you are going to do these things. Then stick to your commitment and enjoy the results.

Get yourself some awesome support.
Friends and other singles dating are your best resources! Make friends in your dating community. Read dating advice, dating tips or relationship advice from your personals dating site. Ask questions. Ask for help. Ask for inspiration. People love to help and you’ll be surprised who steps up. Also remember that you get what you give, so you can start by supporting your own single friends and then reap the benefits you sow for others.

Try dating online with friends and make it a party.
Join one or more dating sites or dating services with a good friend. You can hang out and have a dating party. For example, get a pizza and wine or beer and hang out to surf the web dating personals as you sit side by side on the couch with your laptops. Then you can share your adventure as it progresses and you start to find singles that float your boats and start dating guys or dating girls to your liking. And if it works out, you can even double date! You can give each other reports and encourage each other to email people. And you can say "next" to your friend when it's time to move on and vice versa. You can commiserate over bad dates and share your glee over the good ones. You can also share free online dating ads when you find people who aren't for you but may be just right for your friend. Most online dating services come with a "send to a friend" feature.

Do something different.
Whether it be joining a new internet personals site, going on vacation to a new destination or dying your hair purple, get out of your head and out of your routine to shake things up. New people, places, activities or learning something new can put things in perspective, help you see things differently and help you get back to the real you so you can see what you truly want. And if you can't make a drastic move or go on vacation, do little things on a daily basis, like taking a half hour to go for a walk with no ipod or cell phone -- just you and the world. Or strike up a little conversation with someone new, like at the grocery store, even if it’s just small talk. Or go for a bike ride. Or read a chapter of a new book or an old favorite that moved or inspired you in the past. Or take a minute to write down something you're grateful for each day. Or write down a memory of a time or place or person that inspired you -- then commit to an action to get back to a similar place so that you can revive that same feeling in your current day to day life.

Step out of your online dating comfort zone.
If you're a serial dater and tend to email all the single girls or single guys you see, whether you're totally interested or not, try setting a limit on your email output by only emailing three singles online per week and taking the time to really write a nice personalized email to each. If you're ultra serious, shy or hesitant and only email the men or women that you're sure you're going to fall in love with, try emailing three people a week that are maybes or who seem like they could be an interesting friend or activity partner, even if you're not going to walk down the aisle with them.

Another way to step out of your internet dating comfort zone is to expand your search. Look at single males or single females who are a year or two older or younger than you usually look at. Or take a peek at online personals of singles in a neighboring town or somewhere where you travel often. Even if you don’t have a matchmaking success by doing so, you may be newly encouraged to search through your current favorites list. Or maybe you will find unexpected love.

Go where the love is -- stick with the people that make you feel good about yourself and bring out the best in you. This goes for the people you have on your encouragement team as well as the people you choose to date. Why wouldn't you? It's a simple solution for attaining what you want in a happy and serene way.

Explore online dating communities and dating sites designed specifically for you and your community. There are many, many niche dating sites out there and if you haven’t yet explored all the free personals that are out there, now’s the time to try. There are online personals that cater to Hispanic singles ,Asian singles, Black singles, Christian singles, bisexual dating, gay & lesbian singles, lesbian dating, gay dating, Senior dating, Jewish singles, single dads single moms, single parents, singles over 30 and 40 and many more.
